Varma appoints Jesús Posada de la Mata as president
Spanish fast moving consumer goods group, Varma has announced the appointment of Jesús Posada de la Mata as its new president, succeeding Teresa Martín de la Mata, who will continue supporting the company as vice-president.
The leadership transition marks the beginning of a new phase focused on accelerating Varma’s long-term growth strategy, with international expansion and the development of its owned brands among the company’s key priorities.
Varma is a market leader in Spain for the distribution of highly relevant brands such as Hendrick’s, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Moskovskaya and Bollinger. Over the past five years, the company has strengthened its position as one of Spain’s leading premium beverages and consumer goods distributors while expanding its portfolio of owned brands and reinforcing its international presence. Today, internationalization represents one of the company’s main strategic growth drivers. Varma continues to increase the global footprint of its brands, particularly Macaronesian Gin, the premium gin crafted in the Canary Islands with volcanic gallery water, which is expanding its presence across several European markets including Germany, Italy and United Kingdom amongst others. The company also continues to invest in the international development of its newest blended scotch whisky brand, BOLD Crew, alongside its long-established portfolio.

Varma closed fiscal year 2025 with revenues of €294 million and a workforce of approximately 300 employees across its business divisions.
The group’s business is structured around three divisions: Varma Spirits & Wines, which develops and distributes premium wines and spirits; Varma Food & Care, focused on food, personal care and household brands such as -Prime, Campbells, Weetabix, St Dalfour-; family vineyards and cellars Bodegas y Viñedos del Marqués de Vargas, with wineries in Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Rías Baixas.
Within spirits, Varma owns and co-owns a portfolio of recognized brands including Ron Barceló, Macaronesian Gin, Yzaguirre Vermouth and BOLD Crew, while also acting as the Spanish distribution partner for leading international brands such as Hendrick’s Gin, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Bollinger, Ayala, Beluga, Moskovskaya, amongst others.
