Búcaro Gin brings Andalusian cellar character to premium gin
Búcaro Gin has made its debut as a 40% ABV Andalusian bodega gin rested in Moscatel wine casks and presented in a handcrafted porcelain bottle inspired by the búcaro.
In parts of Andalusia, the word búcaro is commonly used for the botijo: a traditional vessel made from porous earthenware and used for generations to store and serve drinking water. As a small amount of water evaporates through the clay, it naturally cools the water inside – an ingenious response to the heat of southern Spain. Its rounded body, arched handle, wider filling mouth and narrow drinking spout are reinterpreted in Búcaro Gin’s distinctive cream-coloured ceramic bottle. The sculptural silhouette and embossed detailing give the brand an immediate identity on the back bar.
The packaging is only one part of the proposition. Following its final distillation with typical Andalusian natural botanicals, Búcaro Gin rests in casks previously used for Moscatel wine from Chipiona, on Spain’s Atlantic coast. The short maturation is intended to add texture and a gentle vinous layer without overwhelming the gin’s freshness.

According to the brand, the result is round and silky, combining a clear gin structure with notes of ripe fruit, fresh grape, orange peel and light citrics. The style has been developed to work both in a simple gin and tonic and in stirred cocktails where the influence of the Moscatel cask can remain perceptible.
“We wanted to create a gin that could only come from Andalusia. The Moscatel cask gives Búcaro a subtle vinous character, while the ceramic bottle connects the liquid with an object that has been part of southern Spanish culture for generations.” — Felipe Toro, Co-Founder
Búcaro arrives as premium gin producers continue to explore techniques more commonly associated with wine and brown spirits. Rather than positioning the cask as a heavy ageing treatment, the brand uses a measured resting period to connect the liquid with the wine culture of Cádiz and to create a point of difference within the crowded premium gin category.
The debut expression will launch first in Spain, with selected international markets to follow. The brand is targeting specialist retailers, cocktail bars, premium hospitality venues and distributors looking for products that combine a strong sense of place with standout packaging.
Búcaro Gin is bottled at 40% ABV in a 700ml porcelain bottle and is positioned between the premium and super-premium segments. The brand will present the launch to international trade buyers at Bar Convent Berlin.
