Baltika Breweries, Russia’s largest beer producer headquartered in St Petersburg, has transferred its Kazakh beer licence to Derbes Brewery, a subsidiary of Carlsberg Group.
Under a licence agreement valid through 2029, Derbes can use the brand, know-how and technology to produce, market and promote the Baltika and Nevskoye brands in Kazakhstan, a republic in Central Asia. Earlier reports said Baltika shareholders approved a deal in December 2009 to sign a contract for the licensed production of Baltika beer in Kazakhstan at Derbes facilities. Baltika Breweries was established in 1992. The group runs 11 factories in nine Russian regions and a plant in Azerbaijan. Baltika has exported its beer to Kazakhstan since 2000.
